The Holidays are coming to Highstreet! PARK is thrilled to announce the launch of our first project in BC, partnering with Highstreet Shopping Centre in Abbotsford to bring a festive, immersive art and light installation to the Valley. Get ready to be transported to a holiday wonderland as you walk the runway leading to a 65 foot light-animated Christmas tree — one of the tallest in Canada. A tunnel of neon lights and music, titled ILLUMINATE, awaits underneath the tree.

The immersive light experience, ILLUMINATE, is the first of its kind for Highstreet’s annual holiday affair. Lights synchronize with music mixed by DJ Joash Charles, which is available to download before your visit so you won’t miss a beat during your session.

In addition to your ILLUMINATE experience, you will take in a series of modern vignettes and murals designed by Vancouver-based artists Tierney Milne and The WKNDRS. These large-scale, vibrant candy cane hued vignettes will provide plenty of photo-worthy opportunities for you and your family this year.

At PARK and Highstreet, we are committed to the safety of guests while keeping the holiday tradition alive. All guests will be required to reserve a time slot for their ILLUMINATE experience at highstreetfv.com. For the convenience of guests, time slots will be available 7 days a week (hours available online). Additionally, cleaning will be done in between each session in order to maintain a safe and healthy environment for all.

Tierney Milne

Tierney Milne is a Montreal-born, Vancouver-based artist and muralist who focuses on interrupting people’s day with positivity. With a background in Psychology and Illustration and Design, Tierney is armed with a keen interest in how simple shapes and colours affect our wellbeing. No matter the medium, she aims to inspire the inner child and combine intentional compositions, bold palettes and vibrant patterns to engage imagination and brighten viewers’ days.
Previous select clients include McDonald’s, lululemon, Today at Apple, Purolator, Foot Locker and a variety of mural festivals in Canada and USA.

WKNDRS

Claire Ouchi and Rachel Rivera met at Alberta College of Art & Design, majoring in Visual Communication. They now call BC home and have worked collaboratively together in the art, fashion and lifestyle industry for over 10 years as textile designers, artists and muralists. Key themes that have been ever present in their collaborative work over the years include unorthodox, light and playful aesthetics where colour plays an effervescent role.

Together Claire Ouchi and Rachel Rivera have founded the artistic lifestyle brand - WKNDRS. They are a multidisciplinary artistic duo that specialize in creating collaborative and interactive art experiences within the community. Their goal is to connect the community through artistic endeavours to make art and design accessible to all.

DJ Joash Charles

Joash Charles is a DJ based out of Calgary, AB. You can catch Joash Charles playing World Famous Fridays at Commonwealth Bar & Stage and running a weekly Thursday night R&B party, Down 4 Whatever with DJ Pump.

His DJ sets can be described as a mixture of turntablism techniques, instrumental blends and clever word play. You can also expect to hear home-made remixes and edits falling somewhere between rap, dancehall and future. Finding his routes in hip-hop, he is well versed in genres such as RnB, rap and trap music (yes, both mumble rap and bass bangers).

He placed 2nd place at the Red Bull 3Style Canadian finals in 2020.

Joash Charles has been billed to play parties with acts such as DJ PUMP, DJ Disoriental, Skratch Bastid, DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Marvel, DJ Dopey, Jayemkayem, DJ Seko and DJ PHNM. He has also played support for names such as Jillionaire (Major Lazer), RL Grime, Grandtheft, Thugli, Jazz Cartier, Valee, Jarreau Vandal, DJ Maseo, Montell2099 and Drunken Masters. Joash has graced many rooms throughout Canada, including Calgary's own world-renowned Hifi Club, Toronto's APT 200 and Vancouver's Fortune Sound Club.
